One craft, three tools

Capture, process, deliver. On a construction project that is the same chain as on a film or a web application. I learned all three steps separately, which is why I now do them in one go. For the site it means this: whoever captures does not have to explain what they meant. Whoever delivers does not have to guess what was meant. Between a finding on site and what the owner sees on screen there is no foreign interface.

Control, planning and execution

My strength is not operating a device, it is holding control over a process. At Romang Handels AG I monitored and steered seventy two Coop Bau und Hobby branches. Every branch its own location with its own pace, plus stock, replenishment, deadlines and deviations. I did not control that by being present, but through digital tools and fixed procedures. That is exactly what site monitoring is, only with a different subject. A construction project is also a distributed process with many parties, where somebody has to know what is actually the case, and know it before it becomes expensive.

Background

I run Mediaquotes Jones Schibli, an agency for media production and technical delivery. Before that, steering and monitoring the Coop Bau und Hobby branch network at Romang Handels AG, video production and journalism, and entrepreneurial work in Paraguay. German as a native language, English at professional level, Spanish fluent.
